Season transitions are tough. Between schedule changes, planning ahead for long days away from home, and wondering how to carry over your summer training efforts, many “how to” questions arise!

Here are a few topics to help you prepare:
- Mindset. For many teams, the fall season can determine which winter squad you’ll be placed on. What can dancers do to show that they are ready for the challenge?
- Nutrition. Many dancers are changing from summer daytime practices to after school or evening practices. Dance requires fuel, and the timing and amounts may change when the practice time changes. What are some of our teams’ favorite grab n’ go pre-practice snacks?
- Warm up. Dancers are known for wanting to sit in stretches before practice instead of warming up. Warming up, however, does more for injury prevention. Learn the 4 absolute essential dynamic warm up moves that you can use as-is, or build from with your own choreography.
- Protect your hips. Your gluteal muscles protect your hip and back, yet these are the first areas where dancers compensate and injure their hamstrings, hip flexors, and other hip structures. Before class each day, take time to activate your glutes. While we shared a few favorites this summer, we’re sharing even more favorites this fall.
