Minnesota dancers continue success on a national stage as Hans Anderson, twelve years old from Watertown, prepares for a summer of competition on the global stage. His duet partner, Hayley Miller, from Chanhassen, is a rising star in both the dance as well as the Rhythmic Gymnastics scene, where the three-time junior Olympian has turned heads across the world. More on Hayley in an upcoming post.
For Anderson, it all started when the nine year old gymnast/figure skater Hans tried dancing in a recreational dance class. He progressed at a feverish pace and before long was participating in competitive dance lines and accepting awards at state and national events.
Three years ago, the young Anderson was placed with Miller for duets by the folks at Summit Dance Shoppe, where the two study under teacher/choreographer Stephanie Wise Olson-Elm, who has shepherded the two in their young careers.
Hans Anderson was invited to attend the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive in Connecticut, and even earned a scholarship. Hans is eager to take the next step and, event with substantial scholarship he needs to raise over $5,000 in order to complete this summer’s training. If you are a fan of Minnesota’s dance scene and would like to help this young prodigy pursue the next level of dance, please consider helping his family send him to Connecticut this summer.
Stay tuned to MN Dance News for updates on Hans over the summer as well as some other dancers who are making a splash in the region and around the country.
